This sweet treat is a true nod to the past. Be sure to try it and savour it without delay!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Traditional Maple Syrup Dumplings<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>INGREDIENTS (serves six)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>345g (3 cups) all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>30g (2 tbsp) baking powder<\/li>\n<li>100g (\u00bd cup) unsalted butter, softened<\/li>\n<li>330ml (1<sup>\u00bd<\/sup> cups) whole milk<\/li>\n<li>5ml (1 tsp) orange zest<\/li>\n<li>540ml (1 can) pure maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>375ml (1<sup>\u00bd<\/sup> cups) water<\/li>\n<li>Vanilla ice cream (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>PREPARATION<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Zest a washed orange using a Microplane grater and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, butter, milk and orange zest to form a smooth dough. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a large pot, bring the water and maple syrup to a boil.<\/li>\n<li>Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot syrup mixture, using a rounded spoon or ice cream scoop to form small balls. Don\u2019t overcrowd the pot; give the dough enough room to expand.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce the heat to low and simmer the dough balls for 15 minutes, covered.<\/li>\n<li>Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the centre of the dough; it should come out clean, without any residue.<\/li>\n<li>Serve the warm dough balls in bowls.<\/li>\n<li>For a more festive touch, top with vanilla ice cream, drizzle with maple syrup and sprinkle with orange zest.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now, all that\u2019s left is for you to indulge and enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Big thanks to Chef Daniel for this amazing maple syrup dumplings recipe that\u2019s straight out of a sugar shack!
