Compelling and enduring themes for the Dans quelques a\u00een\u00e9s<\/em> podcast<\/h2>\n

Launched in 2021, the Dans quelques a\u00een\u00e9s<\/em> podcast is in complete harmony with the diverse initiatives of Le Groupe Maurice, which all seek to fight ageism. Fueled by a deep sense of conviction<\/strong>, this groundbreaking project amplifies the voices of older adults<\/strong>, allowing them to take back their deserved role in societal conversations\u2014a role frequently disregarded.<\/p>\n

By giving them a platform, the podcast enables seniors to voice their thoughts on matters that concern them, allowing us, as a community, to gain insights from their viewpoints and life experiences. This year, the show is reinventing itself with a video format and a special episode<\/strong> in which Luc Maurice, in a personal setting, welcomed an influential and dedicated figure focused on fostering a society where aging is embraced.<\/p>\n

Special episode with the Minister Responsible for Seniors<\/h2>\n

Usually centred on the perspectives of older adults, the podcast made a rare exception in June 2025 by featuring a prominent political figure: that of Sonia B\u00e9langer, the Minister Responsible for Seniors at the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

During this episode, the minister candidly addressed issues affecting individuals aged 65 and over, representing one in five Quebecers today. She first emphasized the importance of fully recognizing their role in society and combating prejudices related to ageism. She also stressed the need to promote their social inclusion and active participation, then discussed the growing challenges associated with loss of autonomy. Finally, she highlighted the importance of ensuring equitable access to healthcare and services, in a context where an aging population calls for collective and tailored solutions.<\/p>\n

In her conversation with Luc Maurice\u2014whom she has known for several years due to their shared commitment to seniors\u2014Mrs. B\u00e9langer also revealed a more personal side, offering a glimpse of the woman behind the politician: her desire to enter politics, her mentor and her perspective on her own aging, among other topics.<\/p>\n

This special episode brought together two key figures who have dedicated their careers to older adults. In a candid and intimate exchange, they shared their vision for better aging in Quebec, each in their own way reminding us that to age is to live!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Episode\u00a09: Older adults in the media<\/h2>\n

In Episode 9, released today, we examine how older adults are portrayed in the media. Across television, print media or commercials, they are frequently depicted through stereotypes that fail to capture their true experiences.<\/p>\n

How do these portrayals and conveyed notions shape our views, whether as citizens or older people? And above all, how can we foster a depiction of aging that is both fair and uplifting? To explore this subject, Luc Maurice engages in a discussion with Annick Mongeau, co-founder of Mongeau Pellerin & Co, and Mrs. Pierrette Gagn\u00e9, a journalist, communications expert and former executive director of multiple organizations, now retired.<\/p>\n

\u201cI deeply wish we could depict aging as a treasure, as it embodies experience, a life path and moments that have enabled us to advance together. We should cease portraying older adults as fragile and instead highlight them as active citizens, innovators and individuals whose opinions carry weight because they are grounded in lived experience.\u201d \u2013 Annick Mongeau<\/p>\n

Episode\u00a010: Love<\/h2>\n

Could there be a more universal, and at the same time more complex, subject than love? This episode delves into how love faces many challenges over time: juggling work and family, shifting dynamics in relationships as partners grow older, and the changing nature of attachment over the years…<\/p>\n

Naturally, love goes far beyond just romantic relationships\u2014friends, children and family all play a part in keeping it alive. But how do we nurture all of these connections, year after year? To reflect on this, Luc Maurice speaks with Carmen Lemelin, a psychologist and teacher at C\u00e9gep Drummond who also researches at the College Center for Expertise in Gerontology, as well as Diane Bellefeuille, a retired nurse who\u2019s been married and in love for almost 60 years!<\/p>\n

\u201cI witness people falling in love every day. At the residence I live in, we celebrate birthdays during the \u2018Monthly Parties.\u2019 One day, we asked who was celebrating a wedding anniversary. We stepped out onto the dance floor. Then, we asked if there were any new couples. There were at least ten or fifteen! That\u2019s why I say love has no age, and neither does a couple.\u201d \u2013 Diane Bellefeuille<\/p>\n
