This remarkable growth demonstrates the value of bold, innovative approaches to finding solutions that address the housing needs of our aging population.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>When innovation helps us aim higher<\/h2>\n<p>At Le Groupe Maurice, we have always believed that growing older should come with choices\u00a0\u2013\u00a0including the opportunity to live in a place that meets your needs, fits your lifestyle and works within your budget. Yet as Quebec\u2019s population ages, access to suitable, affordable housing remains a challenge for many older individuals who struggle to find a place they can truly call home.<\/p>\n<p>This thinking led our founder, Luc Maurice, to launch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legroupemaurice.com\/en\/articles\/to-age-is-to-inspire\/\">Mission Unita\u00een\u00e9s in 2024<\/a> with an ambitious goal from the outset: to build 1,000 attainable apartments for independent seniors across Quebec by 2026. Today, that goal<strong> has been surpassed by a wide margin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With the recent announcement of three new buildings in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portailconstructo.com\/actualites\/mission_unitaines_lancera_troisieme_phase_300_logements_abordables\">Sherbrooke, Montreal and Trois-Rivi\u00e8res<\/a>, Mission Unita\u00een\u00e9s will bring the total number of affordable apartments completed or under development across Quebec to 2,000. This important milestone is a testament not only to the success of the model, but also to the scale of the need it addresses.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Mission Unita\u00een\u00e9s: A distinct initiative and a shared conviction<\/h2>\n<p>Born from Luc Maurice\u2019s personal philanthropic commitment and supported by all three levels of government, Mission Unita\u00een\u00e9s aims to quickly provide independent seniors with more modest incomes access to quality, safe and reasonable priced places to live.<\/p>\n<p>While distinct from Le Groupe Maurice, the initiative is rooted in a belief we deeply share: <strong>there is no single way to age well<\/strong>. Whatever their aspirations or financial circumstances, older people across Quebec deserve to live in a place that is dignified, vibrant, welcoming and safe.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Growth beyond expectations<\/h2>\n<p>When Mission Unita\u00een\u00e9s was launched, few could have imagined just how far the project would grow in the years that followed.<\/p>\n<p>The success of the model led to an 11<sup>th<\/sup> residence being added to the first phase without exceeding the original budget. A second phase then brought the total to 1,700 apartments across 17 cities. Savings generated through the standardization of the architectural concept and more efficient construction processes ultimately made it possible to add three more buildings, revealing the initiative\u2019s full potential.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the project didn\u2019t just meet its goals\u00a0\u2013\u00a0it surpassed them! The vision behind the model created the conditions to <strong>expand its reach and serve even more older adults<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But beyond the numbers, the true measure of this success can be found in the people who benefit from it. In several of the buildings already completed, seniors have moved in and found a place they can truly call home. Their smiles, stories and the connections they build every day offer a tangible reflection of the model\u2019s impact. They remind us that behind every apartment built is a person who can look to the future with greater peace of mind.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>How can we rethink housing for older adults?<\/h2>\n<p>The story of Mission Unita\u00een\u00e9s reminds us of an important reality: as our population ages, we will need innovative and sustainable approaches to meet the challenges ahead.<\/p>\n<p>In many regions of Quebec, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legroupemaurice.com\/en\/articles\/from-housing-shortages-to-housing-solutions\/\">the need for affordable seniors\u2019 housing continues to grow<\/a>. Waiting lists are getting longer, housing costs are rising and more and more people want to stay in their community for as long as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The new projects announced in Sherbrooke, Montreal and Trois-Rivi\u00e8res were selected based on the scale of local needs and the partners\u2019 ability to move quickly to address demand in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the buildings themselves, the initiative also promotes a different way of thinking about housing: building more efficiently, working together more closely and expanding the range of solutions to reflect the diverse needs of older adults.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>A collective responsibility<\/h2>\n<p>The success of Mission Unita\u00een\u00e9s shows what can be achieved when the Quebec government, municipalities, organizations and community partners come together around a common goal.<\/p>\n<p>For Le Groupe Maurice, this success is a source of hope. It shows that we can develop and put into action concrete solutions to improve the lives of seniors across Quebec, particularly when it comes to housing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>After all, living well as we grow older should never be a privilege.
