Parkinson's: Exercise
The exercises will be offered twice a week by resident volunteer Jeannette Mercier.
The treatment of Parkinson's disease is based on several factors, particularly the integration of an exercise program. These promote the maintenance of independence and help to maximize the effect of the antiparkinsonian medication, which provides a better quality of life.
The functions and benefits of exercise are huge. In particular, it allows:
improve muscle flexibility,
range of motion
the coordination,
the balance,
elocution and dexterity,
to strengthen the extensor muscles, which among other things help keep the back straight,
to act on stiffness and postural problems,
to reduce fatigue,
promote muscle relaxation and relieve cramps,
to act on stress, depression, insomnia, constipation.
Studies also suggest that exercise may slow the progression of Parkinson's disease.

Line dancing with France
What are the health benefits of line dancing? The main physical health benefit of line dancing is that it provides a fun workout by improving heart and respiratory function: dancing burns as many calories as walking or cycling. Many people who find it hard to get excited about an aerobics or gymnastics class will find the rhythm and choreography of line dancing to be more tempting and spirit-friendly options. Dancing, however long you exercise, requires strength, balance and coordination, so it's a great way to improve memory, focus, balance, and stability. This is especially true as you get older, as good balance helps prevent falls. Another advantage: the movements strengthen the bones and muscles of the hips and legs.
