Le Groupe Maurice Fills Montreal With Music This Summer
Music possesses the unique power to transcend time without ever losing its strength. It shapes our personal journeys, evolves alongside those who create it, and continues to nurture, inspire and forge deep connections. It is through this distinctive power of music that Le Groupe Maurice will once again honour senior artists who remain vibrant figures on the music scene. To achieve this, the company is renewing its partnership with the Montreal International Jazz Festival and launching an exciting new collaboration with the Orchestre Métropolitain!
Music: A common chord for all
When artists occupy public spaces, they open a dialogue by building bridges between generations, experiences and perspectives. It is through these precious moments that our perception of aging evolves most naturally: through direct, real-world connection.
This is why Le Groupe Maurice has chosen to renew its partnership and embark on a new collaboration with flagship events that bring the Montreal cultural scene together: the Montreal International Jazz Festival and the Orchestre Métropolitain.
This year, the same vision will guide these musical gatherings: to highlight the inspiring journeys of older artists and to serve as a tangible reminder that to age is to live. Le Groupe Maurice wishes to reaffirm its belief that this is not an abstract concept, but a vibrant reality expressed through actions, talent and shared moments.
Montreal International Jazz Festival – June 25 to July 5
Le Groupe Maurice is continuing its partnership with the Montreal International Jazz Festival, marked by the return of the Piano à Momo! Now a staple for festival-goers, this public piano, set up right in the heart of the action in the Quartier des Spectacles, offers an extraordinary opportunity to perform for a live audience on an open-air stage.
Once again, the Piano à Momo will feature four seasoned and renowned pianists who will take turns performing throughout the festival, showcasing their rich and enduring musical journeys. By remaining active in their later years, these artists do more than just entertain; they demonstrate, with simplicity and authenticity, that creativity doesn’t fade with time.
Naturally, between these scheduled performances, the piano will remain open to the public, encouraging spontaneous participation from everyone. This constant interaction between guest artists and the public at the Piano à Momo will surely help create a welcoming, inclusive, and truly festive atmosphere!
A new addition to the main stage for Le Groupe Maurice
In this same spirit, an exceptional opportunity also arose for Le Groupe Maurice this summer: the chance to promote a positive vision of aging through the participation of the British band Cymande, whose members range in age from 75 to 86!
By sponsoring their performance on June 26 on the TD Stage, Le Groupe Maurice aims to honour these dynamic, inspiring and incredibly VIBRANT seniors who prove to the world that growing older is far from a life sentence. What better way to illustrate that “To age is to live”?
Orchestre Métropolitain: Concert at the foot of Mount Royal – August 5
At the same time, Le Groupe Maurice is thrilled to begin a new chapter with the launch of a partnership with the Orchestre Métropolitain and its concert at the foot of Mount Royal. This collaboration is a natural fit for the company, as classical music holds a special place in the hearts and cultural lives of seniors.
More than 60,000 people will experience the on-site initiatives during this major free outdoor concert on August 5, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Furthermore, this spectacular, unifying and flagship event will be part of the celebrations surrounding the 150th anniversary of Mount Royal Park.
Throughout the day, a series of interactive experiences aimed, here too, at honouring and demystifying aging will embody Le Groupe Maurice’s corporate signature, “To age is to live.” At the same time, these initiatives will help make symphonic music more accessible to the public – an audience made up, among others, of many older adults!
By joining forces with the Montreal International Jazz Festival and the Orchestre Métropolitain, Le Groupe Maurice aims to offer meaningful experiences where art becomes a catalyst for connection, discovery and personal fulfilment.
In essence, the goal is to provide a tangible demonstration that the passage of time can also be defined by intensity, curiosity, passion and new discoveries.
Whether through the vibrant energy of jazz or the richness of symphonic music, one final idea remains clear: vitality is a matter of attitude, not age!
