The Luc Maurice Foundation: committed to Christmas!

|Engagement

Year after year, the Luc Maurice Foundation is committed to supporting organizations and causes that contribute to the well-being of seniors by endorsing projects that enhance their comfort, as well as their freedom to act and think. For Christmas, the Foundation has once again partnered with the residences and employees of Le Groupe Maurice to spearhead a philanthropic initiative, centred around the values of sharing and caring!

When solidarity and generosity converge

The holiday season is often synonymous with joy and celebrations. It’s the perfect time to come together with family and friends, and revel in the festivities. Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate enough to do so. In this time of rising inflation, obtaining sufficient food has become more difficult, particularly for low-income households. The reliance on food banks in 2023 has surged by 32% compared to 2022!

Doing its part, the Luc Maurice Foundation is steadfast in its commitment to assisting those in need and will actively continue its traditional Christmas initiative, in partnership with Le Groupe Maurice.

Just like last year, our head office employees have once again rallied to put together 1,000 bags of non-perishable foods, providing the basis for multiple hearty and nourishing meals.

After these rewarding days of collaboration and camaraderie, the 31 volunteer teams distributed all the food parcels in the neighbourhoods of Villeray, Mercier and Laval; reaching out to seniors living in affordable housing and facing precarious financial situations. In total, some 80 employees took part, 1,000 reusable bags were prepared and delivered, and 13 residences were visited! A commendable achievement for 2023, don’t you think?

Le Groupe Maurice residences set a new record

Le Groupe Maurice residences have also every reason to be proud of their accomplishments. They’ve successfully prepared 5,880 complete meals for distribution to local community organizations; that’s 480 more meals than last year! These delicious meals undoubtedly brought joy to many people who couldn’t afford a warm and festive dinner for Christmas.

Le Groupe Maurice and the Foundation extend heartfelt thanks to all residents and employees within our communities, as well as those at head office, for their invaluable contribution. Your dedication and enthusiasm have led to a new record, with nearly 7,000 meals prepared and provided to those in need this year. Your solidarity and generosity are truly priceless gifts. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
