Older people are not only the guardians of our past, but they are also the guarantors of our future.

Amid the global turmoil that clashes with our values, we felt the need to comfort, to infuse a bit of light. We had the privilege of meeting four remarkable individuals; four steadfast beacons, who have become guiding lights, reminding us that we always have access to a refuge: the one within ourselves.

Paul Awasthi
Yogi by chance

Restoring a physical, mental and emotional bond… resuming a connection that was broken… embracing one’s tenderness, inner calm and happiness… pausing, breathing, meditating… rediscovering oneself after feeling lost—this is what yoga has brought to Paul following a time of inertia, uncertainty and neglect of himself. At 81, he has never experienced such balance among his body, heart and soul.

Olivette Veilleux
Architect of acceptance

Assisting, advocating for and uplifting those in need… desiring the joy of others, fostering community through unifying initiatives… slowing down, listening and most importantly, loving—this is what fills Olivette’s immense heart. At 90, her eyes sparkle with the enthusiasm of a child eagerly embracing life. Her only regret is knowing she has limited time to fulfil all her endeavours.

Pierre Faucher (alias Grand-Pierre)
Guardian of traditions

Roaming the globe, embarking on quests across the seas… nothing has ever charmed Pierre more than his homeland. At 78 years old, he remains just as delighted to recall his heritage to others who travel the world in their own journeys!

Bernadette Kamwanya (Alias Mamie B.)
Mother of the world

At 75 years young, Bernadette firmly believes in the importance of teaching open-mindedness and passing down human values to shape the world of tomorrow. Being embraced by her is to be cradled in her kindness… it is to be rooted in the purest, freest and most universal love.

Your guiding lights

Share your story

Every heirloom piece of jewelry, every tune our parents or grandparents used to hum—each holds a story, a legacy, a set of values… In the moving portraits of four seniors, we honour those who light the way for us, who inspire us, and who move us with the comfort, kindness, and respect they awaken in us. What about you? What connects you to your family roots? Share a memory, a meaningful phrase, a hummed song… a special moment with an older person that will stay with you forever.
