The Olympics will take place from August 17 to 21.

We invite you to sign up for the events that interest you by writing your name on the registration sheets near the reception desk between August 3 and 12. Do you have any questions, concerns, or would you like to learn a little more about each event? Come meet the Olympics organizing committee on August 10 in the main lounge at 3:05 p.m. to attend the official presentation of the various events! Affogatos will be served in the lounge from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. for the occasion. Affogato is a classic Italian dessert—as simple as it is delicious: a scoop of ice cream topped with coffee syrup (and possibly Amaretto for an alcoholic version). The goal of the Olympics is to get together, meet new people, laugh, have fun, and try out different games.

Perhaps you've already tried to learn it on your own, or friends and family have tried to teach you with varying degrees of success. Come and give it a try and don't miss out on this incomparable pastime. At SEVÄ, we offer a friendly environment where you will make new friends and have the chance to exercise your brain while having fun. You can learn at your own pace.

Contrary to popular belief, BRIDGE is not as complicated as people say. It is the best card game there is. You can play it at all levels, with friends, family, strangers from around the world, and even with robots.

Classes start in early October on Monday evenings.

CANASTA

is a card game traditionally played by four players in two teams of two. The purpose of canasta is to total at least 5 000 points by succeeding in cumulating and posing similar cards.

On August 12, we’ll be celebrating the Olympics! Let’s make it a celebration!

All residents, including those with meal plans, must register at the front desk to participate in the event so we can set up tables of 8 people. Visitors are not permitted. Dinner and dance.

Cost: one meal voucher or meal plan.

Chair yoga postures are inspired by hatha yoga (traditional form of yoga) and adapted to the chair. 

The sessions include meditation and breathing at the beginning and end of the class and a sequence of postures in the middle.

Sign up inscription required! Take part in the Aquatic Fitness class, a 40 minutes duration class. 

This course offers a variety of activities in shallow water that promotes balances, flexibility and relaxation through muscular work. For this course, it is not necessary to know how to swim or even float. 

The card game 500 is a very popular trick-taking game with trumps, derived from bridge and euchre. The objective is to reach 500 points by winning the bidding and the number of tricks declared, or to push the opposing team to -500 points.

A must-see summer event for thousands of Montrealers, the Orchestre Métropolitain’s free concert in the shadow of the iconic mountain is part of this year’s festivities marking the 150th anniversary of Mount Royal Park. Presented as part of the CAM on Tour series, the concert will be hosted by its ambassador, Fabiola Nyrva Aladin, and conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

For the occasion, the orchestra will present a program featuring music that is luminous, vivid, and emotionally charged. The program will feature Edvard Grieg’s masterful Peer Gynt, Suite No. 1—a famous work with deeply evocative atmospheres—as well as Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” a vast musical mosaic paying tribute to the richness of American influences and cultures. Finally, audiences will enjoy the premiere of Montréal Cirque, a commission entrusted to Ana Sokolović that anchors this concert in the present and the local context, as well as all the romantic verve of Quebec composer Guillaume Couture with Rêveries. The concert will culminate with a special performance by Elisapie and the Petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal.
