Who starts their day with a morning coffee? Why not also start with a group of friends? From April, a new activity will appear on the calendar called "Social Café", where all residents are invited to the winter garden for a cup of coffee or tea. It's a time to get together, chat, meet new people, and unwind after the week. The activity will be supported by a group of volunteers, everyone is welcome to join in this social event which will run from 9:30am to 10:30am.

Walking, a simple and accessible physical activity that everyone can practice, it is an excellent base for less active people who want to start a fitness program.

Start your day off right with the Anti-Rust course. You are invited to a session of gentle exercise in a chair lasting 30 minutes where you review the different joints of the body to put them in motion. Warm-up, stretching, coordination and breathing exercises complete this session. A great way to start the day with a lighter body and mind.

The exercises will be offered twice a week by resident volunteer Jeannette Mercier.

The treatment of Parkinson's disease is based on several factors, particularly the integration of an exercise program. These promote the maintenance of independence and help to maximize the effect of the antiparkinsonian medication, which provides a better quality of life.

The functions and benefits of exercise are huge. In particular, it allows:

• improve muscle flexibility,

• range of motion

• the coordination,

• the balance,

• elocution and dexterity,

• to strengthen the extensor muscles, which among other things help keep the back straight,

• to act on stiffness and postural problems,

• to reduce fatigue,

• promote muscle relaxation and relieve cramps,

• to act on stress, depression, insomnia, constipation.

• Studies also suggest that exercise may slow the progression of Parkinson's disease.

The yoga class is practiced on chair. Yoga is a fantastic way to work on your balance as well as relax.

This activity can be done individually or in groups. The only material needed is a coloring book and colored pencils or felt markers. You choose. In short, the two alternatives provide you with an anti-stress activity.

The rules of the game are based on the principle of the game of baseball: the team that is on the offensive scores points until it gets three (3) strikeouts; the points are marked with throws that allow the player and his team to evolve around the bases. The conference will be presented by Étienne Phénix, a journalist at Noovo Info. Étienne is truly passionate about current events. Join him for a discussion on the importance of journalism in today's society and the fight against misinformation, which is very prevalent on social media.

Mr. Phénix has been anchoring the news on the morning show of Énergie 94.3 in Montreal for over 15 years, in addition to serving as a news editor for Bell Media radio stations in Quebec (Énergie & Rouge FM). Étienne grew up in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in Montérégie. He began his full-time career in 1998 in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and then continued his career in Sherbrooke and then Montreal. He has worked in the newsroom at CKAC 730 AM and on television as a reporter for TQS's Grand Journal. Étienne is truly passionate about current events.
