In harmony with I Musici de Montréal

While the Fête de la musique (or Music Day) echoes worldwide, Le Groupe Maurice has decided to take this moment to emphasize the significant collaboration established this year with the I Musici de Montréal Orchestra. Reflecting on the 2024-2025 season, residents had the opportunity to experience enchanting concerts, sophisticated melodies and fervent musical interludes.

Exclusive encounters with I Musici de Montréal

For more than four decades, I Musici de Montréal has captivated audiences with its extensive chamber music repertoire. Comprising 15 skilled string musicians, the orchestra excels in Quebec and internationally, engages in multiple local collaborations and supports the development of new musical talent. Its mandate: excellence, accessibility and creativity.

Throughout the 2024-2025 season, Le Groupe Maurice was privileged to partner with the orchestra, offering residents the chance to experience or reconnect with classical music performed by outstanding artists.

A series of concerts, musical workshops and cultural engagement activities were held in several of our residences. Notably, the Christmas concert on December 22, 2024, at Saint-André and Saint-Paul Church, was a captivating experience for both the eyes and ears of everyone present.

The LIZ, Cornelius, Ambiance, Le Cavalier, Le Savignon, Les Jardins Millen, Station Est and 45Nord residences had the honor of attending I Musici rehearsals on the eve of their concerts! Watching the orchestra in preparation offered attendees insight into the effort behind each composition and, most importantly, a closer connection to the musicians’ dedication.

In keeping with this ethos of connection, quartet performances were held in May 2025. Conducted in a cozy atmosphere, they provided opportunities for meaningful exchanges between musicians and audiences. Shared smiles and stories recounted between compositions created an engaging and memorable experience that resonated deeply.

Music, the spark of emotions

There are moments that seem to pause time. A meeting, a landscape, a memory, a work of art – these instances infuse beauty into our daily lives. Thanks to the partnership between Le Groupe Maurice and the I Musici de Montréal Orchestra, such moments have been plentiful this year.

Music has the unique power to express the unseen. It lends a voice to the most delicate emotions and, at times, to the most hidden memories. What is deep and intangible, music makes real, nearly touchable. It transforms the unspeakable into sounds that echo within us.

In terms of emotional impact, the experience profoundly affected participants. According to an opinion survey, numerous residents characterized these events as moments imbued with beauty and tranquility. Some saw them as a refreshing pause, helping them escape worldly stresses. Others were captivated by the instruments’ harmony, the meticulousness of each note and the delicate balance of peace and liveliness offered by the events.

And the echo endures…

Looking back, the connection between Le Groupe Maurice and I Musici de Montréal goes beyond just music. Much like us, the chamber orchestra values the strength of collaboration and the need to innovate. Through its work, I Musici strives to make music more accessible, foster inclusion and nurture social bonds in the communities it reaches.

This forward-looking approach perfectly reflects the values we uphold at Le Groupe Maurice… Maybe that’s what true harmony is all about.

The cultural season, for its part, is far from over; in fact, new initiatives are already in motion. On that note, Le Groupe Maurice is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Just a few days from now, a genuine musical experience will unfold in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, courtesy of Le Groupe Maurice: the “Piano à Momo.” This community piano, open to all, will beckon passersby to stop, play a melody or simply enjoy the music.

In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, guest artists – including older adults – will deliver spontaneous performances, reminding everyone that creativity and inspiration know no age limit.

Stay tuned. What we’ve initiated this year is merely a prelude to more ideas, more encounters and many more surprises!
