Exercise for Parkinson's
The exercises will be offered twice a week by resident volunteer Jeannette Mercier.
The treatment of Parkinson's disease is based on several factors, particularly the integration of an exercise program. These promote the maintenance of independence and help to maximize the effect of the antiparkinsonian medication, which provides a better quality of life.
The functions and benefits of exercise are huge. In particular, it allows:
- improve muscle flexibility,
- range of motion
- the coordination,
- the balance,
- elocution and dexterity,
- to strengthen the extensor muscles, which among other things help keep the back straight,
- to act on stiffness and postural problems,
- to reduce fatigue,
- promote muscle relaxation and relieve cramps,
- to act on stress, depression, insomnia, constipation.
- Studies also suggest that exercise may slow the progression of Parkinson's disease.

Each team has eight stones and the goal is to accumulate the highest score of the match; points are awarded for stones that come to rest closest to the center of the house at the end of each round, which ends when both teams throw all their stones. A match may consist of eight or ten innings.

Conference: The history of hockey (FR) [TV]
Jean-Patrice Martel has been interested in hockey since childhood and has been passionate about hockey research for 25 years. He published the book On the Origin of Hockey in 2014 and four books for young people on the history of sport in the Raconte-moi collection (Canadiens, Montréal Olympic Games, Alouettes, Maurice Richard). He served as president of the International Hockey Research Society for four years.
The conference on the history of hockey will talk about the origin of the game, in Europe and Canada, the first games in Montreal, the first tournament, the history of hockey leagues, the Stanley Cup, the creation of the National Hockey League and its evolution, including the expansion phenomenon which has brought the league to now 32 teams. We will talk about the Century Series that everyone who is at least 60 years old (or almost) remembers and which brought interest to Canada in international hockey. We will also talk about hockey on radio and TV and the great stars of history. We will not forget women's hockey, almost as old as men's and with a rich history as well. And of course, we will not fail to recall the great successes won by the Montreal Canadiens in its history, as well as the five other Montreal teams who also won the Stanley Cup, a long time ago, without forgetting the Quebec team who won it two years in a row over 100 years ago.

Curling
Come try our indoor curling game !!
The indoor curling is a sport in which players slide stones on wheels on a floor towards a target, made up of concentric circles. Two teams, each made up of four players, slide in turn the stones towards the house: a circular target marked on the ground.
