Pétanque-Atout is a popular game at L’Initial. It is a game that is played with two teams. 

Each player takes turns throwing 3 balls at the target. The player must try to compile as many points as possible for his team.

This activity is a great social opportunity to meet new people.

Game sequence

1. Choosing trump

The card turned up above the stock offers a suit as trump.

Each player can accept or refuse to make this suit trump.

Accept: If a player accepts, this suit becomes trump for the round.

Refuse: If all players refuse, a second phase begins in which players can propose another suit as trump.

2. Trump cards

Trump is the dominant suit for the round. Trump cards override all other suits.

The right Jack is the strongest card.

The “Left Jack” (jack of the same suit as trump) is the second-highest card.

3. Playing tricks

The player to the left of the dealer plays the first card.

Each player, in turn, must follow the suit played if possible.

If a player cannot follow, he may play a trump card or discard another card.

Points

If the trump team wins 3 or more tricks, it scores points.

3 or 4 tricks: 1 point.

5 tricks (perfect round): 2 points.

If the opposing team wins more tricks, they score 2 points (“Euchre”).

Popular variations

Solo game: One player can declare that he will play alone against the other three. If he succeeds, he scores more points.

3-player variation: Each player plays for himself.

End of game

The game ends when a team reaches a predefined score, usually 10 points.

The rules of the game: 500 is a game of trump tricks played with 4 players in two teams of 2. The partners sit opposite each other. A 43-card deck is used (a 52-card deck, plus a joker, from which the black 2s, 3s and two 4s are removed).

The order of the cards in trump is as follows:

Joker

Jack of Trump, called Right Bower

Jack of the suit close to the trump suit (example: Clubs if the trump is Spades), called Left Bower

Trumps: Ace, King, Queen, 10, 9.

Other cards: Ace, King, Queen, Jack (if not Left Bower), 10, 9

Without trump, the joker is considered a trump, and wins the trick where it is played, no matter what

In a game of Duplicate Scrabble, each player has his or her own set of Scrabble tiles, and all letters are laid out face up. A referee draws seven letters from the bag, announces them, and all players take the same seven letters. The general game rules are then used for the duration of the game.
