The rules of the game: 500 is a game of trump tricks played with 4 players in two teams of 2. The partners sit opposite each other. A 43-card deck is used (a 52-card deck, plus a joker, from which the black 2s, 3s and two 4s are removed).

The order of the cards in trump is as follows:

Joker

Jack of Trump, called Right Bower

Jack of the suit close to the trump suit (example: Clubs if the trump is Spades), called Left Bower

Trumps: Ace, King, Queen, 10, 9.

Other cards: Ace, King, Queen, Jack (if not Left Bower), 10, 9

Without trump, the joker is considered a trump, and wins the trick where it is played, no matter what

Bridge is played with 4 players, the players being symbolized by the 4 cardinal points (North, East, South and West). The two players sitting opposite each other form a team that plays against the other two players.

One player takes a deck of 52 cards and, after shuffling them, deals them clockwise.

The object of the game is to make as many tricks as possible in a contract that can be played in no-trump (SA) or trump (♠, ♥, ♦, ♣).

Pickleball is a lively racket sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s played with a perforated plastic ball and paddles on a small court with a low net. Fun, easy to learn, and social, it’s a sport for all ages and skill levels, promoting both enjoyment and fitness.

In a game of Duplicate Scrabble, each player has his or her own set of Scrabble tiles, and all letters are laid out face up. A referee draws seven letters from the bag, announces them, and all players take the same seven letters. The general game rules are then used for the duration of the game.

A Bad Moms Christmas follows our three under-appreciated and over-burdened women as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas. And if creating a more perfect holiday for their families wasn't hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting and entertaining their own mothers. By the end of the journey, our moms will redefine how to make the holidays special for all and discover a closer relationship with their mothers.

Ms. Shea and her team will be going door-to-door on Sunday, December 7, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., to collect monetary donations or non-perishable food items for the Holiday Food Drive.

This musical event, presented by residents, is open to anyone who would like to perform a song or an instrumental piece.

Café l'Englishial was formed in 2020 to meet the needs of our English-speaking residents.
