We love being able to learn and have fun while exchanging with others, which is exactly what we have found here. We meet lots of people with different nationalities and from other countries and cultures. As we love to travel, it’s fascinating being able to talk with them, especially about music. We have a subscription for the Orchestre symphonique de Montreal and we go the Montreal Jazz Fest every year. The extra time we have because we live in a residence allows us even more freedom!

Italian card game
Scopa
Scopa is an Italian card game, and one of the two major national card games in Italy. It is played with a standard Italian 40-card deck, mostly between two players or four in two partnerships, but it can also be played by 3, 5, or 6 players.
The name is an Italian noun meaning "broom", since taking a scopa means "to sweep" all the cards from the table. Watching a game of scopa can be a highly entertaining activity, since games traditionally involve lively, colorful, and somewhat strong-worded banter in between hands. However, skill and chance are more important to the outcome of the game.

Workshop: Sentinels in social geriatrics (FR)
It is not unusual for individuals to experience unexpected pains that suddenly concern them, whether during the day or at night. Wondering whether such pains are normal or serious is a common reaction.
Geriatricians have been studying what is considered normal aging versus accelerated aging for some time now. Would you be interested in learning about their findings? This knowledge could benefit your well-being as well as that of those around you.
The training, offered in two 90-minute sessions on March 6th and 20th, aims to:
Understand the difference between normal aging and accelerated aging.
Recognize the signs of normal and accelerated aging based on various identified aspects prioritized as indicators.
Know the determining factors of health.
Act by observing the presence of risk factors, identifying AÎNÉES AD-PLUS alerts, and calling upon well-identified resources if necessary.
Upon completion of the second session, you will be awarded a Sentinel certificate demonstrating your understanding of aging trajectories, ability to recognize them through the seniors lens, and identification of vulnerability factors specific to those aged 60+.
Now sensitized to these indicators, you will be empowered to act as a vigilant sentinel against minor and major ailments and will know what steps to take to maintain your autonomy for as long as possible. Would you be willing to decline such a "gift" from the Service de Gériatrie sociale Saint-Laurent?
