Le Groupe Maurice and “Un vélo, une ville” Join Forces!
Le Groupe Maurice and Fondation Luc Maurice care about keeping seniors engaged with others, both in residences and in the community. We are therefore pleased to support the “Un vélo, une ville” public initiative for the second year in a row, helping to improve the quality of life of Quebec’s seniors!
An intergenerational ride
Designed to break the social isolation of seniors, the “Un vélo, une ville” public initiative provides turnkey recreational and tourism scooter outings in municipalities across Quebec. To encourage student retention and success, vehicles are driven by youths from the community, providing paid summer jobs to students who can benefit from a scholarship at the end of the employment period. This service is specifically intended for people aged 55 and over living in residences or at home independently. It is offered free of charge thanks to local sponsors.
Discover the treasures of your community
These one-hour outings take seniors on routes designed in collaboration with each municipality, giving residents the chance to discover local attractions, historical locations, and heritage sites, from June 23 to August 24.
A number of scooters in Le Groupe Maurice’s colours will be available in the cities of Gatineau, Candiac, and Saint-Lambert, as well as in the Montréal boroughs of Ville-Marie, Saint-Laurent, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, and Le Sud-Ouest. The following Le Groupe Maurice residences are located in the cities where this initiative is being launched: L’Initial (Gatineau), Les Verrières du Golf (Saint-Laurent), Les Jardins Millen and Ora (Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Montréal), and Seva (Candiac). Other cities and boroughs may eventually be added. We will keep you informed!
