Luc Maurice Foundation: Thousands of meals for Quebec seniors
Throughout the month of December, the residents and employees of Le Groupe Maurice enthusiastically pitched in to improve the well-being of some 5,500 Quebec seniors and the communities in which our residences are located. Orchestrated by the Luc Maurice Foundation, this event is back this year to offer even more love and comfort to those around us.
More meals = more happy people
This year, the Luc Maurice Foundation and Le Groupe Maurice residences set themselves the goal of surpassing the 3,500 meals distributed in 2020. This goal was successfully achieved! The residents and employees of 28 of the company’s residences throughout Quebec prepared 4,500 meals. The meals were distributed to people in need, in partnership with several community organizations, including Pas de la Rue, which helps seniors in precarious situations, and Dans la rue. As usual, the residences paired up with organizations that work in their own communities—where the residences are located. For example, Les Jardins Millen in Montreal prepared 300 meals for SNAC (Service de Nutrition et d’Action Communautaire) in Ahuntsic. The residents and employees of L'Avantage residence prepared 300 meals for Cuisines de l'amitié, while the Le Quartier Sud residence in Lévis prepared 300 meals for Alliance Jeunesse and Service d'entraide de Charny.
Bringing happiness to seniors
Head office employees prepared 1,000 snack bags, which the teams distributed in a festive and warm atmosphere. And this year, we were able make a greater number of seniors happy. In addition to the traditional partnership of the Luc Maurice Foundation with the organization Les Petits Frères, three other organizations that work with seniors were added: the Centre des aînés de Villeray, the Chez-nous de Mercier-Est and the Association pour aînés résidant à Laval. We reached a greater number of seniors with this initiative.
We are very proud of the work accomplished by the residents and teams who enthusiastically gave their time and energy to contribute to bring happiness to their neighbours and fellow citizens. Many thanks to all of you!
